The Hycote double acrylic concentrated basics and primers range is based upon updated technology allowing the inclusion of higher concentrations of paint per aerosol compared to standard technologies.

This in turn provides up to twice the coverage of most conventional paints, with reduction in applied coats.

Hycote Double Acrylic Basics and Primers comprise a range of concentrated primers, standard, popular finish coats, a clear lacquer, and a zinc rich primer with enhanced corrosion protection. The primers are designed for use in conjunction with most of the finishes in the Hycote range. The clear lacquer is designed for use over all colour finishes with the exception of Aluminium [DPB909], to enhance gloss levels, and to improve environmental and physical protection.

Where to use

On all types of metallic, rigid plastics and ceramic surfaces when used in conjunction with the appropriate primers.

Where not to use

• On surfaces pre-treated with primers of unknown composition, without first ascertaining suitability of use on a small inconspicuous area.

Application Details

Primers:

Prepare the area to be treated, ensuring freedom from dust, grime, traffic film, greases, oils etc., using a detergent solution followed by rinsing thoroughly and drying. Rust, other surface contamination, and loosely adhering matter should be removed using an appropriate grade of wet and dry abrasive cloth. Following preparation the surfaces should be further treated with a solvent wipe using HYCOTE BRAKE CLEANER, [XUK302], white spirit, thinners or a proprietary panel wipe and allowed to dry.
Shake the can thoroughly for at least two minutes. Repeat shaking at regular intervals during use.
Apply sparingly from a distance of 20 – 25cm. Apply typically 2 to 3 coats or as many coats as necessary to achieve total and even coverage, leaving at least 15 minutes between each application.
Allow at least 24 hours between application of final coating and preparation for any subsequent finishes that may be required.
On completion of use, invert can and depress actuator for a few seconds to prevent nozzle blockage.

Finish Coats:

Prepare the primed area to be treated, ensuring freedom from dust, grime, greases, oils etc., with a solvent wipe using HYCOTE BRAKE CLEANER, [XUK302], white spirit, or thinners and allow to dry.
If necessary, particularly on automotive bodywork applications, the surface may be flattened by abrading the surface lightly, using 1200 grade wet and dry abrasive paper, and solvent treated as described above to remove any dust.
